Sometimes you need to take a break. Pictures, not words. I love my inks, but I’m a pen person at heart.
This is one of my favorite pens ever. But I’ve been mulling over selling it. The problem is, then I take it out and look at it.

Papier Plume Lake Michigan Summer. This blue-green ink was crafted by Papier Plume of New Orleans for the Chicago Pen Show, inspired by the blue waters of Lake Michigan in summer. It’s a beautiful color, and it really does make me think of a day at the beach.
Lake Michigan Summer is one of two special small-batch inks Papier Plume is bringing to the 2017 Chicago Pen Show next month.

Papier Plume Ivy 108. This green ink was crafted by Papier Plume of New Orleans to celebrate the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series, and I think it’s a great green, worthy of the that lofty achievement.

The cities of Chicago and New Orleans have always had a close connection, especially musically. This song was written by a Chicagoan, Steve Goodman, about a train that still runs between Chicago and New Orleans.
So it’s especially fitting that Papier Plume, the New Orleans fountain pen and ink store, is bringing two special edition inks for the 2017 Chicago Pen Show. These handmade inks are very limited — only 60 bottles each — and will be available from Papier Plume at the show, starting Friday, May 5.
Photos of the Chicago inks are on the next page, and I’ll put up reviews and more photos in the coming days.

My friends at KWZ Ink are joining with me to give away this bottle of KWZ Rotten Green. It’s a very dark green that as you can see above looks near black in some situations. Rotten Green is really great, and definitely not-rotten: in fact, it’s one of my favorite KWZ inks. There’s a review here if you want to check it out.
To enter to win the bottle of Rotten Green, just leave a comment below. Any comment is fine, but I’d love to hear about your favorite KWZ ink or the KWZ ink you’d most like to try.
This contest is open to anyone, anywhere. You can also enter on the Fountain Pen Follies Instagram, but only one entry per person on each platform is allowed. (Once here and also once, if you like, on Instagram.) I will randomly select the winner sometime on April 15, using a random number generator, and post the lucky winner’s name here on the blog. So be sure to check back then, because once announced, the winner will need to contact me with mailing address by April 22 to claim the prize.
Papier Plume Peacock. Weeks of gray skies and near-constant rain have made your faithful blogger a little crabby and a little stabby. But there’s a cure for bad weather, and it’s called, “find something cheerful.” Just what the doctor ordered is Papier Plume Peacock, an irrepressible happy ink with a tongue-twistingly alliterative name I very much enjoy saying. Papier Plume Peacock.

Platinum Classic Citrus Black. This is an iron gall fountain pen ink with gorgeous shading and dramatic color change from light yellow to dark khaki. Even though it’s iron gall, Citrus Black behaved beautifully in my vintage Pelikan and cleaned out very easily.
