Pen Review: Sailor Professional Gear Ocean with Music Nib

Sailor Professional Gear Ocean

Sailor’s new, North American-special color for the Professional Gear is the Ocean, and it’s an attractive dark teal, a blue-green that’s more green than blue, which I think is elegant and gorgeous, and happily not run-of-the-mill. I love the color.

    1. That’s wonderful! In fact, I just used someone’s Naginata togi this weekend — it was wonderful. I owned one once years ago for a short time, but gave up on it. I’ve obviously become a better “driver” as you so aptly put it. 😀

  1. I love the color, but I haven’t seen this in person. Great write up again. I also liked seeing how you mention the normal size of the written line stroke, vs what we see in the photo. I’ve never tried one of their music nibs.

  2. Thanks for posting this review. I have just ordered the Ocean Pro Gear Slim but I was a little unsure about the colour because I have read that some people have been disappointed with it. Your photos look fab! I spent ages debating which nib to go for because I really like a Sailor broad nib, but I eventually opted for a medium. I also quite fancy the metallic blue slim in a broad, but that will have to wait for another month!

  3. I just recently bought the Pro Gear Slim Ocean with a broad nib, and I love mine. I especially like broad nibs, so to me, Sailor’s broad seems a little narrower than I’m used to. But it’s an awesome nib, nonetheless. I really enjoy the slight feedback it has that contributes to that Sailor feel. I’ve only had this pen a very short time, and I already wouldn’t want to be without it. It doesn’t hurt that teal is my favorite color, either!

    1. Totally! I love a Sailor broad nib because, as you say, it’s not as broad as others. If I end up buying another Sailor it will probably be your exact pen: the Ocean with a broad nib.
