Caran d'Ache Chromatics ink bottles in box

It occurred to me when I was writing about Tuesday’s pen of the day that I was talking about an ink brand I rarely hear mentioned, Caran d’Ache. Why is that?

Where wise men and women fear to tread, Fountain Pen Follies is always willing to rush in. So let’s talk about Caran d’Ache a little.

  1. The more inks I try out, the more I find that a “well behaved” ink is worth so much more than higher saturation. (Both at once is gorgeous, though 🙂 ). I have to say many of the Caran d’Ache family aren’t quite my thing, not quite what I was looking for or quite bright enough, but then, I can say the same of a lot of other inks I’m trying.
And I’ll certainly try Idyllic Blue 🙂 After your review, how could I not? And probably that green. It’s a very pretty green…
The more inks I try out, the more I come back to just a few favorites. Personally, I’d prefer if they’d stop discontinuing their inks every few years just when you found your favorite, but I guess it’s part of their business deal.

And I’d totally see the 20$ as life agreeing with you 🙂 The universe approves of your choice. And sometimes, those extra 20 bucks for a little smile extra is so worth it, at the end of the day.
