When I was really young just after I realized that up-to-date-ness is a highly prized quality in a dictionary, I’d feel just a touch scandalized that they weren’t automatically replaced, say, every year (like school books, you know – that was the frame of reference hehe). Over time I got over it but I did feel a sense of relief when online availability of dictionaries got to a point where general usage ones weren’t necessary in hard copy anymore, like, phew, finally REALLY up to date haha

Laura,
Great chuckle for the day. I still have my Webster’s from 1966!
