  2. This is an amazingly beautiful pen. I really like the Maki-E technique, and I’d love to see one in person someday. Until now I haven’t had the opportunity yet. And the size comparisons were amazingly interesting for me, especially since I have found the M600 to be my perfect sized pen, personally. I’ll certainly look at that line soon. It sounds like it’s a worthwile addition to any collection – and an affordable one as well 🙂 Thank you for sharing.

  3. Great review. I always think pens with maki-e are beautiful but often times they are just too much for my taste. This is just the right everything- maki-e, pen size, weight, look, and price. Personally, if I am going to purchase a pen I want to use it. This pen fits all those boxes for me. I can see adding one of them to my collection one day.

    1. I feel exactly the same way, Laurie. It was such a nice surprise. I brought it to our Chicago Pelikan Hub tonight, and everyone there liked it, too. (Along with the many Pelikans we brought to share.) The Platinum’s broad nib is such a pleasure to write with, and the pen looks even nicer in person. And you don’t have to worry about it or fuss over it; you can just use it. 🙂

  5. It is a gorgeous pen. Some people only like screw on caps. But for a note taker, and quick writing session, snap caps are ideal. Of course you could use it for longer writing sessions too, especially as it seems light. Sometimes I glean stuff, and write it down. I read, write a few lines (or maybe a few words)…back and forth. A short threaded cap is good too, but still not as quick. I love the traditional looking Japanese artwork on the pen too. I wouldn’t consider this a “purse pen”, but something beautiful to write with, and admire. Great review Laura. 🙂
