Ink Snippet: Platinum Classic Cassis Black

Platinum Classic Cassis Black ink

Platinum Classic Cassis Black. This is a one of Platinum’s recently released “Classic Collection” of iron gall inks in interesting colors. It’s a burgundy that is attractive and fairly water resistant, but also easy to clean and great on poor paper.

  1. Great ink review as always. The comparisons are always good to have. I have a bottle of Burgundy Rose and KWZ-Maroon. I think the Maroon might be a closer match to the Cassis Black. I’ll just stick what I have, but the Cassis Black is pretty.

  2. This looks nice. Honestly, it reminds me of the (visual) qualities I always liked about Noodlers “Black Swans in English Roses”, one of the few N inks I still have around. The behavior aspects are great – I’ll be interested to see what happens with the steel nibbed pens. If the ink isn’t too harsh on them, this line sounds like it would be great for students who are relegated to writing on really crappy paper at school. Another fine review in the pantheon of fine ink reviews.
