Ink Dips: Diamine Apple Glory

Diamine Apple Glory writing samples

Ink Dips is a more casual, and potentially disagreeable, ink evaluation than is normal here at Fountain Pen Follies. Instead of carefully evaluating an ink I’m interested in, the point of Ink Dips is to blindly pick an ink sample from a box of the unwanted or uninteresting. Then I fill that sample into one pen and see what I think. An inky experiment that’s a bit dippy.

Diamine Apple Glory. It’s not that anyone in the world needed another green ink, but this one is charming, and hard to resist. Apple Glory is a happy, cheery green, the perfect match for my Lamy Apple Green Safari. It’s bright enough for editing or fun little notes, but never obnoxious or eye-searing. Never neon. Possibly even office appropriate. Apple Green turned out to be an unexpected pleasure.

  1. I am deeply in love, at the moment, with Private Reserve Ebony Green, which is quite the opposite of the cheerful apple glory. I order a sample, can´t wait to get my hands on it. Lovely review, thanks for sharing your experience with us.

  2. I have both Diamine Meadow and Kaweco Palm Green. I really enjoy them both. Seeing the comparisons makes it obvious how different and lovely Apple Glory is in comparison to the two other “spring” inks I own.

I have the same Safari and just maybe I “need” this ink for it. 😁

  3. Excellent review and comparison. Apple Glory looks very pretty. (and cheery as you say!) I still have a little Kelly Green left in a 30ml bottle though. It is a little darker I think. It really shines with a flex nib. Lierre Sauvage is a great color, I’ve tried a sample of it before. Now the Palm Green is lovely too. I haven’t tried Palm Green yet, but I do have a pack of cartridges in green and brown now. (Kaweco)

  4. This is a bright and cheery ink colour, that you do not often come across. As you say, it matches the Safari perfectly and shades nicely too. Would be fun for editing, if one’s job was re-working stacks of Hollywood movie scripts or such like, perhaps:). I enjoyed seeing the REM lyrics too.

  5. I have Apple Glory and like it very much and have used it, off and on, for “years.” I also have an entirely different looking green ink that I also love, De Atrament Jane Austen.
