My friend Dan Smith, the Nibsmith, sent me a pen with a broad Architect’s nib to play with. I really like the nib grind: it’s easy to use and I think the results look neat.

ooh, so that’s what they call these upturned nibs! Thanks, I always learn something from your blog 🙂 Until now I’d only seen these on some cheapie chinese pens (think Jinhao). I’ve had two of those but neither worked very well – lots of fits and starts, some burping. Don’t know if it’s the nib or the feed. When it does work though, it’s definitely a fun nib!

I like the Architect’s nib, but the pen isn’t for me.

Dan did the same grind on a Levenger L-Tech pen for me. I really like the nib, the pen not so much. Decisions, decisions…

I have the same grind on a Pelikan from Dan. It’s great.
